Korean HIFU

What is HIFU?

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-surgical facelift and skin tightening technique that employs precision medical-grade ultrasound energy. The Ultraformer III HIFU is a third-generation HIFU machine that provides more power, less discomfort, improved safety, and clinically verified benefits.

How does HIFU work?

Heat is generated at that exact level, triggering a thermal coagulation process that causes collagen fibres to thicken and shorten, resulting in a tightening and lifting effect on the skin.
The 4.5mm transducer is specifically designed to target the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) layer while lifting. The SMAS layer is an important support component for the face. In fact, plastic doctors perform surgical facelifts that target this specific layer to generate a face lifting effect.

With aging, the SMAS layer loses elasticity, resulting in skin laxity, jowl development, and deepening of the nasolabial folds. With an HIFU treatment, we can stimulate collagen production and tighten this layer to produce a “Medical Facelift”.

Thermal energy stimulates collagen remodelling at depths of 1.5mm and 3.0mm, resulting in tighter skin, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and smoother skin.

Who is HIFU suitable for?

HIFU is a popular non-surgical therapy in Singapore that produces natural-looking results for patients who see early signs of aging such as laxity, jowls, and under-chin heaviness.

What can HIFU be used for?

Here are the perks you can get from an HIFU facelift treatment:

What can HIFU treat?

The most common application for HIFU is the face and neck lift. HIFU achieves natural-looking skin lifting and tightening outcomes by increasing collagen formation in the skin’s layers. Depending on the setting, HIFU face lift treatments can “melt” facial fat while also tightening the area. This is ideal for V-shaped face contouring, jowl reduction, and treating double chins.
Eyebags can be targeted and treated using HIFU by tightening the orbital holding ligament and reducing infraorbital fat. HIFU treatments can also efficiently treat cellulite, skin laxity, and stretch marks, which is ideal for post-pregnancy mothers!

Risks and Side Effects

HIFU Facelift is a non-surgical technique for skin tightening and lifting, targeting specific areas of the face or neck. It is generally safe, but there are some negative effects. Mild pain may occur during the procedure, but no additional pain is reported post-treatment. If discomfort is severe, numbing cream may be applied.

The HIFU procedure’s waves penetrate deep skin layers, reaching the dermis and superficial muscular aponeurotic system layer (SMAS), causing small damage and tingling in delicate areas like the lips and eyelids. Blotching of skin is a temporary issue, but it will fade within a few hours. Some patients may experience bloating and swelling, which is uncommon but subsides a few days after treatment. The age-reversing effects of HIFU treatment are evident after treatment. The Ultraformer HIFU 3, a third-generation treatment, offers similar results with less adverse effects.
